2020年亚洲许多地区经历了不同寻常的雨季:5月,印度东北和孟加拉发生强降雨;6月开始,中国华南、西南和江淮流域等地区发生暴雨,引发洪涝灾害;7月初,日本熊本地区暴雨导致洪水和泥石流;7月13日,韩国南部地区的日降雨量超过一个月的降水量。
为了总结对极端降水事件的科学认识,以及评估各种尺度天气系统的预报技巧在2020年夏季亚洲暴雨的预报和防灾减灾工作中的作用,并讨论及对未来工作的启示,大气所主办英文期刊Advances in Atmospheric Sciences(AAS)主编邀请AAS的中、日、英、美编委Robin T. Clark, Xiquan Dong, Chang-Hoi Ho, Jianhua Sun, Tetsuya Takemi, Huiling Yuan组织了“2020之夏:亚洲的强降雨—机制、可预报性与影响”专刊,得到学术界热烈响应。专刊共计收到中、英、美、韩等国投稿27篇,经审稿后接收17篇,已于11月10日在Springer正式出版(https://link.springer.com/journal/376/volumes-and-issues/38-12)。目前还有文章在陆续投来,后续如接收,将放入同主题虚拟专刊(https://link.springer.com/journal/376/topicalCollection/AC_3599b5269f1727db9524dd7b042b4854/page/1)中。
