Zaixing Zhou received a Bachelor degree in Agricultural Meteorology Science from China Agricultural University, Beijing, China in 2000 and Ph.D. degree in Atmospheric Physics and Atmospheric Environment from the Institute of Atmospheric Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China in 2006. He was appointed as a Research Assistant Professor in the Institute of Atmospheric Physics in 2006 and currently served as a research scientist II in the Earth Systems Research Center, University of New Hampshire, USA.

His research interests include field studies and modeling in the field of terrestrial ecosystems and biogeochemistry, mainly focusing on carbon and nitrogen cycling and trace gases (N2O, NOx, CH4, CO2) emissions under a changing global environment. He is currently in several research projects that involve modeling nitrogen gases emissions from a northern hardwood forest at a watershed scale and the integrated effect of greenhouse gas emissions, land use change, and managements on climate change at landscape scales.
